According to the new Motor Vehicle Law, the penalty for not having bicycle
insurance has been doubled from 1,000 to 2,000 rupees and / or imprisonment for up to 3 months.

- Compensation of Rs 5 lakhs for death and Rs 2.5 lakhs for serious injuries in the event of a car accident.
